Have you checked out West Ottawa RC Speedway yet?

  How cool is RC Racing? Well my Uncle Kirk built and runs a wicked outdoor track in Carp, Ontario just a few minutes west of Kanata: West Ottawa RC Speedway.  Open to the public on event nights, they even have rental trucks so you can test Remote Control Racing out before you get into it as a hobby. They have indoor and outdoor racetracks, indoor for the winter, outdoor for the summer.

Now I don't know much about RCing, but I have seen the tracks in person, and it they look pretty damn cool. The outdoor track even has huge spotlights for after-dark racing!

As much as the hobbyists and the serious racers enjoy this, Kirk tells me it is all for fun. They even have a trophy cup at the end of each season. Mostly they race Thursday nights at 7pm, and sometimes on Saturdays, with special events throughout the season.

If you are already into RC, West Ottawa RC Speedway is pretty active on the forums over at RC OTTAWA.

The track is located on Wilbert Cox Drive over near Carp, just west of Ottawa. If you have ANY interest or curiousity at all, check it out on Thursday nights. They do get rained out or take a night off once in awhile though, so check the facebook page ahead of time, or send an email off to Kirk @ worcracing@gmail.com and make sure they are open for the night.

There are some fees to enter in a race, but are constantly running promotions. The fees just help cover upkeep for the tracks! Free to watch though!

FEES:

  • Adult fees for race nights will be a flat fee of $20.00.

  • Kids 16 and under race for free if accompanied by a racing (paid) adult.

  • Kids 16 and under race for $10.00 if accompanied by a non-racing (non-paying) adult.

  • First time racers get to race free!

•Gate opens at 5:30pm, racing starts at 7:00pm.

•House transponders are available.
