As Halloween creeps closer, Ottawa’s haunted houses are popping up in full spooky swing for 2024! If you’re looking for a fright without breaking the bank, you’re in luck. The 613 is home to several free haunted houses that offer bone-chilling thrills for all ages. From eerie home garage setups to elaborate backyard walkthroughs, these haunted homes are perfect for getting into the Halloween spirit without spending a dime. Grab your friends, muster your courage, and check out these free haunts around Ottawa!

  • Some of these are very elaborate or interactive, while others are just a fun path to look at the wicked Halloween decorations up close.

All of these homes are free, however some may also be asking for a cash, online, or non-perishable donation to their favourite charity, if you have the means to do so.

The Albert Family's CHEO Haunted House

Over 23 years of Albert Family Haunted House of Orleans History! Help us pass our total of $15,025 raised for CHEO in 2023! Free chips to anyone who attends.

BeastMaster’s Electric Chair

Simple hands on tasks to fix an electric chair and bring a skeleton alive. Escorted event. No jump scares. Does contain flashing lights, sounds, lasers, smoke, motors and music.  

This is an escorted experience for ages 7-99.

Chapel Hill Bio-Research Facility: ZOMBIE OUTBREAK!

DISCLAIMER: a minor accident has required parts of our genetic laboratories to be put in lockdown. However, there is no risk to public health whatsoever, and our public tours remain operational, including our children's programing. There is no need to contact Ottawa Public Heath and we assure the public we have everything under control.

Smaller format but no less traumatizing! Enter at your own risk! One night only October 31st 2024, operating from 530pm to 930pm (or until there is no one left). Recommend coming after dark for the best experience, earliest times before complete darkness primarily for the youngest of trick or treaters.

Conover Crypt

Viewable everyday, but come walk through the Crypt on October 29th, 30th & 31st

Creepy Carnival

The Famous Spring Valley Drive Haunted House in Orleans is back for 2024. This year’s theme is the Creepy Carnival. Decorations are already viewable to drive by, but Haunted Yard Walk-thru is only on Halloween Day

Deadnersville

Deadnersville is always free, but we do take donations for Belleville General Hospital Foundation. In 2023, we had over 17,000 visitors from October 1st to the 31st walking through 170ft of covered decorated canopies with animatronics & props, raising $17,600 for BGHF.  We only scare on Halloween with live actors. We are open from 4-10pm during the week & on weekends from 12:30-10pm. We are located just west of Campbell’s Orchard at 1744 County Rd (Rednersville Rd) - During the day stop in at Campbell’s Orchard for corn maze, petting zoo, great food & on weekends wagon rides. Enjoy an outing at both of our places

We are wheelchair friendly & we also allow furry family members on lead. Portable washroom on site.

Graveyard and Garage Scare Fest

Been building graveyard scene props for months. Columns, cemetery sign, gates, fences , locks, gargoyles, spiders, animatronics, fog, lighting, projectors…you will be thrilled and scared at the same time. Come one and all and enjoy this yearly event we host on Nestow. Bring your family and friends

We will be open from 4:30-9pm each of the 2 evenings/nights. Can see only driveway during the day. Please come at night it’s way more elaborate with jump scares, animatronics, props, low level graveyard fog and lots of lighting to add to the eerieness.

Haunted Crownhill

After a one-year hiatus due to construction, Haunted Crownhill by Scaremaster Stanley is back! This year the backyard walkthrough will feature two separate areas, a gentle and fun area for the younger kids, and a scary area with gore and jump scares for older kids and adults.

Haunting On Selkirk

This is a family home haunt with a maze for some free Spooktacular fun which runs two different times pending your fright level you want to experience . It’s fun for all ages big and small . You can come alone or in a group and experience Haunting on Selkirk Halloween adventure. There is no fee to get in, but we are collecting for the Petawawa food pantry.

Family friendly during the day with no live actors and animatronics turned off. At night for Haunt we bring everything and everyone to life for a fun spooky adventure, walking through the haunted maze.

This house does a huge theme every year and takes over the street for its Haunted Walkthrough! This year, visit Hogwarts of the famed Harry Potter stories.

Madame Mysteria's Maze of Mysteries

This is our third year creating a Halloween experience for all ages. Not your average trick-or-treat stop - this is an experience. We have a family friendly carnival area that is fun and friendly for those young and old. For those who feel a little braver they can go deeper into the maze to experience a variety of themed areas. We do have strobe lights and uneven floors. We also have scare actors in the maze. They won’t touch our guests and we ask that our guests not touch them. We usually have a lineup, as we only let a few people through at a time so people can have the best experience. Please be patient with us and come early.

Morning Star Manor

Massive yard display as well as animatronics set up in the garage. Walk through set up in the garage the weekend before Halloween as well as Halloween night. Accepting donations for both Petawawa Food Pantry and OSPCA

Nightmare in Allisonville is a haunted yard and also has 80 ft of inside haunted house.

Richmond Haunted House

This is a multi-room haunted house with LIVE ACTORS, Fog, Strobe lights, and frightening scenes. We do our best to scare appropriately for the age * - Free to attend, but also accepting cash and non-perishables for the Richmond Food Bank

Roberge Haunted Garage

Stonehedge House of Terror

Stonehedge house of terror is back for it’s 3rd year. Come during the day for a walk thru, non scary time or come anytime after 5pm when all props wake up for some scares. Treats on site at different locations. Donations for FAMSAC appreciated with tin for some change right by the Scouts camping crew. Tour guide onsite from Fri-Sunday starting at 6pm. Have a wonderful Halloween!
