As we grow older, we are starting to realize two things:

1. Toddlers are hurricanes.

2. Quality matters when you have toddlers that are hurricanes.

We decided for this Christmas to upgrade our coffee table. We were sick of hot coffee burns, wine spills on the carpet, and the flat black colour that only fancy particle board could give us.

We have a two year old, maybe we should start adulting and get rid of some of our college furniture?

I had been scouring pinterest and instagram for all the coffee tables I liked. We even found one with a built-in fridge and speakers. But it was only in the process of being made, not so much for sale. I wanted to add a little living grain to our gray and black colour palate. When I found what I was looking for, I starting hunting the #support613 hashtag and #madeinottawa. I ended up finding Wooden That Be Nice, via kijiji advertising a black friday sale!

Right from the very beginning, I knew I had found the company I could trust in creating the custom table I wanted. All their website samples already looked like something from my dreams - so when I spoke to Tyler - he only confirmed I was in good hands.

Even when we hit a little bump in shipping due to bad weather (ugh Ottawa winters!), they kept in touch and kept me updated every step of the way. Mary is so fabulous to have as the customer service rep, she was super kind and helpful dealing with every email and inquiry I had, and almost immediately too. Such a pleasure.

When my table arrived, it was everything I had hoped for. No more wobbly legs. I can barely move this thing on my own, no toddler or cat will be knocking it, or my coffee (aka WINE) over any time in the future. Actually, this custom table by Wooden That Be Nice is built so well, I am pretty sure my future grandkids will be dancing on it someday and it will still be in perfect condition.

Wooden That Be Nice's workshop is located in Northbrook, Ontario - roughly a two hour drive from central Ottawa - but I hear that they are looking for a new showroom right in Ottawa to show off all their awesome goods. However, until then they are offering a delivery service (with a small charge of course!)
